More About Me

I believe in relationships. It brings me great joy to be able to work with a couple on the verge of breaking up and to see them move to a healthier and happier place. I also enjoy working with individuals who are feeling unworthy, alone, and confused to find self love, healing, and fulfilling relationships.

When I work with a couple my focus is always on the relationship. We’ll work together as a team, not on each other. Through couples therapy you can learn that most issues are common and can be worked through - things like improving communication, handling finances, and navigating conflict. Not only will you develop more understanding, but together we can develop tools to move through conflict and develop a stronger and better relationship going forward. I know that even issues such as betrayal and trauma can be overcome when both partners are committed to the process and to working together on the relationship.

While some issues are common, every person and every relationship is unique. I am trained in various therapy methods and will use what works best for you. I help couples to be able to work together as a unit - the relationship works better when both partners are on board, collaborating together. We’ll work together to build strategies and tools for HOW you will work together.

Many of the individuals I work with have feelings of being less than, not worthy, or experiencing imposter syndrome. It might feel like you get stuck in a cycle of bad relationships, you start them but can’t keep them and you blame yourself. I know that nothing is wrong with you, and I’ll work with you to build understanding, identifying your barriers and moving to a place of healing and fulfilment in your relationships.  I’ll help you to set new standards and confidently hold boundaries from a place of strong self worth.

Therapy with me is non-judgemental, a place where you can tell your story and be heard, and always change oriented. I like to provide my clients with resources that they can think about and practice between sessions and use a variety of methods depending on what works best for you. I have experience working with not-for-profits, with acquired brain injuries, intimate partner violence, and spent many years teaching social work at the post secondary level. As a visible minority myself I am attuned to the importance of culture, race, and ethnicity, and always consider systems, justice, and power. I am a true social worker in that I feel privileged to be in a position where I can help others and be part of nurturing your wellness.

I also hold a Master of Divinity degree from Canada Christian College and is happy to provide Christian based counselling to individuals and couples who request it.
