Grief Therapy

Finding peace, balance, and living again.

Grief Therapy can help you if:

You’ve suffered a loss - a loved one, a baby, divorce, a job - and don’t know where to turn

You experience random overwhelming waves of sadness, crying, or hopelessness

You’re burdened by the weight of caring for an ill, disabled or dying loved one, but feel quiet shame about your feelings

You’re struggling under the weight of feelings like guilt, shame, regret, and hopelessness

The pain of you’re experiencing makes it difficult to get through the day-to-day

You’re feeling socially isolated and know you need help, but don’t want to burden family or friends

Loss, illness, death, and dying are unavoidable human experiences.

Grief is huge, overwhelming, and unavoidable. Grief is one of the most difficult human emotions - it can feel like physical pain, anxiety, depression, despair, anger, and confusion. Grief can have you wondering, will I ever feel normal again? Grief is also a very universal human experience, but suffering a loss or being a caregiver is usually isolating and lonely. Many of our therapists have worked in hospital settings and are comfortable and compassionate while understanding the realities of loss and the extreme burden of caregiving.

Our grief therapists have specialized training in helping with:

  • Pregnancy and infant loss

  • End of life care

  • Suicide

  • Supporting health care professionals

Find the strength to step into what lies ahead.

Working with a therapist who specializes in grief and caregiving will allow you to honour your losses and gently find your way to a new normal. You will slowly but surely be able to readjust to the day-to-day with fewer feelings of guilt, shame, overwhelm, or hopelessness.

How does it work?

We know that grief looks different for everyone, and that no 2 people have the exact same circumstances when it comes to caregiving. Your therapist will meet with you to complete an initial intake to learn your story and who you are. We recommend weekly sessions to start to build your relationship and begin sorting through your thoughts, feelings and behaviours. As you heal and grow you can begin to move to less frequent sessions.
