Attachment Based Methods for Effective Changes - The Gottman Method, EFT, PACT Therapy

Couple’s Counselling might be perfect for you if:

You’re having the same fight over and over again

You might be struggling with intimacy, feel you can’t trust each other, or are contemplating divorce.

You’re planning on getting married and want to resolve any lingering issues and set yourselves up for success.

You feel like you’ve drifted apart, or you never really knew each other to begin with.

WHAT IS PACT?

PACT is the Pychobiological Approach to Couple Therapy.

It is different from most other couples methods and focuses on three main areas: attachment, arousal, and regulation. These three areas have to do with your personal understanding of how a relationship should work, how you fight, and how you are able to calm yourself and your partner. All of these areas are understood first through your body and automatic responses and then through your brain and behaviours. PACT tends to cut right to the heart of the issues, seeing results in a faster time than other methods. Couples who commit to doing the work tend to feel ready to end therapy within 6 months.

How does it work?

PACT therapy works for couples of all types. Your therapist will help you to recognize how your past experiences in relationships are showing up in your present relationship so that you can break unhealthy patterns. You will practice being in conflict in a different way, being able to have tough conversations and come to resolutions faster and with win-win results. In PACT the ideal relationship, known as a secure functioning relationship, has safety, sensitivity, justice, collaboration, and mutuality. In working towards this ideal you’ll have improved communication, fewer and shorter fights, a strong sense of security and commitment, and more love, appreciation, affection, and intimacy.
